The basic steps to create a dosing consult are:
| 1. | Retrieve or enter patient data |

| • | Leave the search field blank and press Enter to list all patients alphabetically. |
| • | Or type in a patient MRN or Last name, then press Enter. |
| ► | APK© will list all records matching your search spec. |
| ► | Enter less information for a broader search, or more (last, first name) for a more specific search. |
| ► | Or click the Down arrow to view your most recently accessed patients. |

Click the add icon to create a new patient record.
The add icon is only visible after a search has been attempted

To list patients in the inactive database

Click the re-activate icon to retrieve an inactive patient.
The re-activate icon is only visible after a search has been attempted

Click Prospective dosing or Serum level analysis.
| • | Prospective dosing: you may modify the model defaults before clicking the calculate button. |
| • | Serum level analysis: enter the serum level data and the dose from which the data was derived then click the calculate button. Or use a previous set of levels by clicking the Retrieve button. |
| 5. | Enter a recommended dose and interval. |
Please note: If you wish to have a serum level graph printed on your dosing consult, click the Save button on the View Graph window.
| 7. | Print a consult form by clicking the print icon on the tool bar or by clicking File/Print consult on the menu bar. |
Please note: Until a dose and interval has been correctly entered, the Print option is disabled.
Please note: It is very important that you print (or copy) a consult form because it is at this point that the program is "triggered" to save the consult and pk data for future reports and analysis. It cannot be stressed enough how important it is to ALWAYS PRINT (OR COPY) YOUR CONSULTS.
| 8. | Print a monitoring form by clicking the monitor icon on the tool bar by clicking File/Print monitor on the menu bar. |
Getting Help
| • | Click the help icon on the tool bar or click Help on the menu bar to access the contents of the help system. |
| • | Context-sensitive help is available at any time in the program simply by pressing the F1 Key. |
