{"id":1766,"date":"2021-10-22T11:26:09","date_gmt":"2021-10-22T17:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rxkinetics.com\/blog\/?p=1766"},"modified":"2021-10-22T11:26:09","modified_gmt":"2021-10-22T17:26:09","slug":"doors-of-perception","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rxkinetics.com\/blog\/?p=1766","title":{"rendered":"Doors of perception"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Reviewing my search console report today I found the most linked page on my web site is my review of <a href=\"https:\/\/rxkinetics.com\/blog\/?p=1687\">AUC guided dosing of vancomycin<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the top linked text section I found &#8220;how precisepk helps pharmacist compliance&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So naturally I pulled up their web site and found this insightful graph.<br>   <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"272\" class=\"wp-image-1767\" style=\"width: 400px;\" src=\"http:\/\/rxkinetics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/AUC_comparison.png\" alt=\"AUC comparison\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rxkinetics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/AUC_comparison.png 500w, https:\/\/rxkinetics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/AUC_comparison-300x204.png 300w, https:\/\/rxkinetics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/AUC_comparison-441x300.png 441w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see, APK performs better than all except precise. The reason for its claim to greater accuracy is simple, they use a 2-compartment model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have mentioned this numerous times but it bears repeating, the one compartment pk model for vancomycin always underpredicts &#8220;true&#8221; AUC because it excludes the distribution phrase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My contention is that over-estimating AUC, as precise sometimes does, may result in subtherapeutic dosage regimens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DoseMe, Insight, and Precise are an order of magnitude greater in cost than APK. BestDose (formerly USCPACK) has been in development for decades and is still not ready for prime-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need a pk tool that is simple, accurate and inexpensive there is only one, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rxkinetics.com\/apk.html\">APK.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reviewing my search console report today I found the most linked page on my web site is my review of AUC guided dosing of vancomycin.
