Set your Windows short date style

All dates must be entered with 4 digit years to ensure Y2K compliance.  If you experience problems entering dates, check the Short Date style setting in Windows:

Click Start | Settings | Control Panel
Select Regional settings (or options)
Select a Short Date style with a 4 digit year, preferably:

M/d/yyyy (US), or d/M/yyyy (British)

Check your system clock

The patient's date of birth is used to calculate the patient's age, therefore, you must ensure that your system clock is correct or the patient age calculation will not be correct.

Set program preferences

Before you use the program, check the default parameters by viewing the Setup window.  To enter Setup, click on the File drop down menu and click Setup, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S.

Set the data tracker columns

The data tracker is an optional function which is used to record miscellaneous data such as labs, I/O's, vital signs, weights, etc. Column descriptions are not mapped to data, they are free text, therefore it is very important that you define the columns before you begin tracking data.
