The databar icons provide access to patient database functions:
New patient
Edit patient
Save
Cancel
To enter a new patient, click the "New patient" icon on the databar. The status line will then read "Adding new patient":

To edit the currently selected patient, click the "Edit patient" icon on the databar. The status line will then read "Editing patient data":

While adding or editing a patient the only options are to either "Save" or "Cancel".
After you click "Save" or "Cancel" the status line will change to "Viewing patient data" and the "New" and "Edit" icons become active while the "Save" and "Cancel" icons are disabled.

Click the "Patient notes" icon to enter or edit the patient's diagnosis and comments.
