Physiology

A biochemical test used to assess the activity of multiple clotting factors in the blood and the ability of the liver to produce these factors.

Increased/prolonged values

Indicate clotting factors deficiencies and may and indication of hepatic function.  PT is prolonged in liver disease.

A biochemical test that assists the clinician in determining the nutritional status of the patients, useful for patient assessment and monitoring of liver function.
